Twenty-five members of an African-American church in Garner, North Carolina took Perspectives. Church member, Elzinia Williams commented, "Before I took Perspectives, I viewed myself as an oppressed victim of race. I identified with Lazarus and poverty. But after considering the God of the nations and understanding the peoples of the world, how can I not say I am blessed beyond measure. I am the rich man living in America and need to be about my Father's business blessing the nations." As a result, their church started a missions committee and has had several mission conferences and is taking the lead in African-American missions mobilization.
Hundreds of other church and mission leaders have endorsed Perspectives. They have seen the life changing value of this course. Not everyone that takes Perspectives will be a missionary, but it takes a large supporting cast to keep missionaries on the field. Many Perspectives alumni become involved with the internationals in their community and senders of other missionaries. Everyone who takes Perspectives benefits and local churches have discovered exciting new ways to participate in world evangelization.
And some praise from our students…
Rolling Hills, CA - from an African-American brother: "After my first class in Perspectives, I must make a positive comment. I have traveled the world quite extensively, participated in various mission outreaches, done ship-to-shore ministry and at least twenty years of prison ministry. I have been a member of two churches totaling at least 30 years. I will be 58 years this year. Never in my life have I heard such profundity concerning the true essence of the gospel message as I heard on the first meeting. Words cannot say how thankful I am to hear this. I was imprisoned in programs, problems and rituals and I really thought I was free to serve God, however, thank God for Perspectives. Free at last, free at last, Thank God Almighty, I am free at last!"
Columbia, SC: "We have an interesting dynamic; a church from Camden SC brought 15 high school students. They are a team planning to go to Wales this summer and part of their requirement to go is to complete Perspectives. They all were very attentive and engaged. Thanks for your prayers."
Austin, TX: "… before Perspectives, my 2-1/2 year old and my 1 year old had ear infections 3 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I developed a GI bug that left me hovering home for several days without the ability to eat or drink. And this last week, my 37 year old brother died of a massive heart attack. Amazingly, I have had tremendous peace from the get-go for these two classes this spring. I am convinced that great things will happen in the hearts of the students who attend......if for no other reason than Satan is trying extremely hard to distract and tire me. Already he's lost, as I have been carried through by God's hand, and both classes are on target!"
Redlands, CA: "The first night was a blowout with 75 students showing up - that is right 75! We weren't able to get them all registered and will finish that next week. We are having to move the class from the current location …. The Missions Pastor at Trinity is in the class and volunteered his Church!"
Fayetteville, AR: "I want to pass on a note from a Campus Crusade Staff guy. The whole Crusade Staff team is in my class: Love the class so far. Just a little feedback, I lead our team in our weekly prayer time this morning and had us pray through some of Piper's material in lesson two and it was incredible. Everyone on the team seemed to have a fresh revelation about the purpose of missions and also our purpose here on campus at the university. We spent time praying that God would unite our hearts with His and give us clear direction. We were all in awe at what God taught us. It was probably the best prayer time we have had as a team since I have been here for 4 years. I think this class will be pivotal in the directional decisions we make for our ministry this semester. Thanks for helping to make the class possible. Your time is well spent."
Langley, BC: "… we had over 100 show up last night at the opening session! I've had a series of e-mail requests from other students come in today about signing up for the class. I wonder if it was a partial response to what happened last night. The interspersed teaching & worship ended with a moving song & unplanned silence for at least 4 minutes with no one moving
amongst the 100+. Some were in tears. A few on their knees. There was a sense of awe & God's presence. I returned to my seminary office & had a number of e-mail messages waiting for me from students who had only just reached their residences. They spoke of never expecting such a phenomenal impact."
